Caring Altogether on Romney Marsh

A local charity reducing loneliness and isolation

working across Romney Marsh, Tenterden and parts of rural Ashford

Caring Altogether on Romney Marsh (CARM) is a registered charity (No: 1184552) and was founded in 1987; it arose out of the desire of local Christian Churches to show love and compassion to those in need.

Our first service was Meeting Points which were formerly known as ‘Drop Ins’, operating since 1987. Thereafter, our befriending service was formed and in 2006 our reminiscence service was established. All of these services have evolved and changed over the years and are all currently thriving thanks to the dedication of our volunteers, staff team and Trustees.

Over the years, CARM has evolved considerably, but remains true to its founding principles, meaning that we are committed to serving those people living within our operating area who are lonely or socially isolated because of old age, physical or mental disability, bereavement or being a carer, regardless of their protected characteristics or beliefs.

Everybody who has contact with CARM will be treated as an individual, with respect and dignity. CARM’s ethos provides the foundation of our service to people who are lonely and socially isolated. Any person holding office within CARM must be sympathetic with these values.
